2012 Julefest Celebration in Solvang

See 100+ live Christmas trees and participate in tons of holiday events at the 2012 Julefest in Solvang!


“Share the holiday cheer” in Solvang—named by Time magazine as one of “The 9 Most Christmassy Towns in America”—and attend the 2012 Julefest!


According to the Santa Maria Times, “The annual festival, pronounced “yule-fest,” lights up downtown Solvang with thousands of sparkling white lights and events throughout the month, including open houses at stores, special concerts and other activities.”

Julefest Tree Lighting Ceremony

Friday, December 7, 2012 at 5 p.m.

Julefest “opens” with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony of the city’s tall evergreen in Solvang Park (Mission Drive & First Street). Enjoy free live entertainment with ballerinas, bands and caroling. Santa and Mrs. Clause will also be stopping by for a special visit!


Julefest Parade

Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11 a.m.

The parade originates at Old Mission Santa Ines (1760 Mission Drive), travels west on Mission Drive (Highway 246), turns left on Fourth Place, turns left on Copenhagen Drive and ends on Alisal Road at Mission Drive. Those in the parade include Danish dancers, musical groups, vintage vehicles, horses, carriages and animals. Santa will stop by and will be available for photos after the parade!


Nativity Pageant

Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 5p.m. and 7 p.m.

Stop by the outdoor Solvang Festival Theater (420 Second Street), and watch “The Christmas Story” come to life with a choir, actors in traditional costumes and live animals! Both performances are free with seating on a first come basis.


Holiday Cheer Around the Village

Saturday, December 15, 2012 – All Day

Enjoy a full day of musical entertainment in the center of the retail district!


Solvang’s Third Wednesday Holiday Celebration

Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.

With the theme, “Keep the Cheer Here,” the Third Wednesday Holiday Celebration will feature shopping and dining specials throughout the villages as well as live entertainment and carolers. The winners of the 2012 Tree Decorating Contest will also be announced!
