7th Annual MixMatch Dance Festival

Posted on  August 21, 2013

From a small start six years ago, the MixMatch Dance Festival has grown to become the largest event of its kind in the Los Angeles area. MixMatch, organized by Hart Pulse Dance Company, is a celebration of dance that packs 5 shows, 50 choreographers, 70 different dances and 8 styles of dance into 4 days.

Diversity has become a defining theme of the festival. Some of the styles to be featured this year include ballet, tap, tribal, hip-hop and jazz. The sheer number and variety of participants allows for each of the festival’s five shows to be a unique experience with different line-ups and dances.

Though the event is great for dance fanatics, don’t be intimidated if you’ve never seen a dance event before. The spirit of MixMatch is to improve accessibility to dance as an art-from and increase its fan base.

“MixMatch is meant for everyone in the community,” says event founder Amanda Hart. ”We love seeing our audiences as mixed as our performance bill. If you already love dance or are just curious about what a dance performance can offer, MixMatch is for you.”

The MixMatch Dance Festival is definitely a step in the right direction in terms of popularizing dance, and with tickets priced at only $15 guests get plenty of value for their entertainment dollar.
