Amgen Tour of California will be making a stop in Cambria

Posted on  April 11, 2014

The Amgen Tour of California is no Tour de France, but it’s about as close as you’ll get in the United States. This 8-day professional bike race is one of only two in the country with a 2.HC rating, the highest classification for non world-tour cycling events! Take a visit to Cambria to see the finish of one of this great event’s most scenic stages.

On May 14th, riders will cross the finish line of the fourth stage of the Tour of California at Veteran’s Hall Cambria, California. Amgentour.com describes stage four as  “arguably the most beautiful” of all the stages in the race. This 102.6-mile push will start in Monterey and is sure to provide the riders some beautiful views of the coast as they make their way north.

Cambria provides a fantastic location for spectators to enjoy themselves while waiting for riders to come in. The town and surrounding areas have attractions to entertain a wide variety of interests, not to mention the fact that Cambria offers some spectacular views of the central coast.  The town has even been called one of “America’s Prettiest Towns” by Forbes magazine.

Some of Cambria’s attractions include Moonstone beach, a great place to look for local wildlife, and Hearst Castle, a historic estate sure to entice any traveler. Cambria also has plenty of great places to eat and drink and lots of one-of-a-kind boutique shopping locales. For more details about all the great offerings in Cambria, head to cambriachamber.org
