Cameron Carpenter Returns to Santa Barbara

Posted on  January 1, 2018

If you love unconventional music and performances, then we might have found just the event for you! On Monday, Feb 16, the widely acclaimed performer Cameron Carpenter will return to Santa Barbara’s Granada Theatre with nothing other than his International Touring Organ.

The Performance

After Cameron Carpenter’s explosive performance in 2016, it is no surprise that he has been invited back to the Granada Theatre on Feb 16 to wow Santa Barbara once again! With his self-designed electric organ, Cameron transforms classic pieces into modern, improved works of musical art- completely different from the typical pipe organ you might have heard in church. Cameron’s performance is full of great music, amazing talent and plenty of personality. The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. and end around 8:30 p.m.

About Cameron Carpenter

Cameron Carpenter is a 35-year-old classically trained musician with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Julliard School in New York.  In 2008, Cameron was hired as the organist for a church in New York, where he designed an electronic organ for the broad-ranging music of that church. Since then, Cameron has recorded several albums, received a Grammy nomination and performed all over the United States. While some have critiqued his manipulation of the classical instrument, many have remarked that he is a resourceful organist, “equipped with the foot speed of a professional dancer and seemingly more than 10 fingers.”
