Peace. Love. Run.
Looking for a day to take a blast to the past and groove with your friends while giving back at the same time? We may have found the perfect charity event for you. Come to Santa Monica’s Ocean View Park this Saturday, May 11th and take part in the Flower Power Run, a 5k 60’s & 70’s-theme inspired scavenger hunt.
As you can probably already tell, this isn’t your average 5k. The Flower Power Run is a themed scavenger hunt located in the heart of Santa Monica. Your goal is to rack your brain around and solve the clues provided to each team captain at the race. Your team will try to solve the clues that will lead you to specific landmarks around the city. And don’t forget your smartphone! Your team will gather for a picture at each landmark with your clue in hand. Once all the clues are solved, then it’s a race to the finish line! Your time officially stops when all of your team members pass the finish line.
But the fun doesn’t end there. After the finish line comes the party! You and your teammates can kick back and let your hair flow at The Flower Power Happy Hour, where there will be great music and food and drink specials.
A portion of the ticket sales for this event will go towards a local Santa Monica charity.
“We are young, wild and free (we promise not to reveal your true age)—and what better way to stay that way than run amok in your city and bring to light a new era of peace, love and running?” the Flower Power website asks.
So come on down this Saturday in your favorite tie-dye, beads and fringe and let your inner flower child play as you race to the finish line. It’s guaranteed to be a groovy time.
