Come explore artisan foods and crafts.
Not even three months old yet, the Local Artisans Market in Santa Barbara is making California history by being the first cottage food fair in the state. Established on January 1, 2013, the Local Artisans Market was created when the new Cottage Food Law went into effect. This new law enables individuals to apply for permits that allow them to create a wide array of food items in their kitchen like baked goods, pastas, cereals, dried fruits, beef jerky, honey, etc.
Recurring weekly every Friday, the Local Artisans Market brings a variety of local healthy, specialty and old-fashioned foods that celebrate Santa Barbara. This market is a foodie’s paradise offering fresh, local produce, gluten-free faire, organic products and handcrafted gourmet goodies. And that’s not all—the Local Artisans Market also has gourmet food trucks on site as well as jewelry and crafts by local artists.
According to the their website, “All of the Local Artisans Market food artisans are permitted cottage food operators, or their items are made in local commercial kitchens.”
