Clean the Beach. Help the Ocean. Feel Good.
Join the community and help clean up Arroyo Burro Beach. Every second Sunday of the month, Explore Ecology, an organization whose work combines environmental awareness and artistic creativity, sponsors Community Beach Clean Ups at the South Coast Watershed Resource Center (WRC).
Every month volunteers of all ages show up at the popular Santa Barbara beach. With a passion to help save the environment, they head down to the shoreline with their buckets, baskets and gloves and pick up trash for an hour or two.
According to their blog, Explore Ecology “has been sponsoring beach clean ups for over four years and in that time participants have picked up thousands of pieces of trash. These volunteers are proving that small actions on land can affect the health of our watersheds. They’re not only keeping Santa Barbara beaches clean they’re also helping marine life…”
Mariana Cruz, Environmental Educator for Explore Ecology said, “We ask everyone to keep track of what they find, so they’re also collecting data that we use to educate the community.”
The next clean up is Sunday, February 10th from noon to 2 p.m. Explore Ecology asks that you do bring your own bag, bucket and gloves.
