Santa Barbara’s 51st Annual 4th of July Parade

Posted on  July 2, 2013

Celebrate the Fourth of July in Santa Barbara at the 51st Annual Parade!

The non-profit, all-volunteer Spirit of ’76 Association has coordinated its 51st Annual Fourth of July Parade!

The theme for this year’s parade is America the Beautiful. “In a poem, later a song, of this title, we find words inspired by a vision of the American that can be. The events of the day will celebrate the beauty of this nation, its land and its people united in common purpose as Americans,” the Spirit of ’76 website said.

The parade’s grand march will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Micheltorena Street and proceed down State Street to Old Town Santa Barbara and concluding at Cota Street.

Following the parade—at 5:00 p.m.—the Spirit of ’76 and Santa Barbara Music Events will present the annual Independence Day Concert located at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens (at the corner of Anacapa and Anapamu). A yearly favorite of both locals and visitors, the concert features the sounds of traditional music celebrating the Fourth of July.

Classical concert pianist, Brian Tari, who has performed throughout the world, will be directing this year’s Independence Day Concert, and prominent musicians, including artists from The Music Academy of the West, will be performing. The concert is open to the public and free of admission.

It’s American fun for the entire family. Get there early to find a great spot to watch the parade!
