Be part of an annual Thanksgiving tradition many see on television in Chicago at the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade. Help kick-off the holiday season with this event for all ages! On November 28th from 8am-11am join the excitement, which starts on State Street from Congress Parkway to Randolph Street.
A Holiday Tradition
The parade originally began in the 1930’s, then called the Christmas Caravan, as a way to lift spirits and increase morale during the Great Depression. Throughout the years the parade has grown to become an American tradition and continues to mark the beginning of the holiday season in Chicago.
What to Watch for
The parade will be packed with helium balloons, such as a 50-ft. turkey balloon to Garfield the Cat, along with high school marching bands, plenty of dancers from ballerinas to Irish steppers and even Ronald McDonald who you can spot in the crowd throughout the parade. To top off the celebration, Santa Claus will make an appearance as well!
