The Laugh Factory Comedy Club: A Can’t Miss Attraction for Comedy Fans

Posted on  September 13, 2013

All comedy clubs are not created equal. According to USA Today, the ranking of #1 comedy club in the country belongs to The Laugh Factory. Located on the iconic Sunset Strip in Hollywood, The Laugh Factory has been hosting some of the most famous comedians in the business since its doors first opened in 1979.

Notable comedians who have performed at The Laugh Factory include:

  • Milton Berle
  • Nick Cannon
  • Drew Carrey
  • Rodney Dangerfield
  • George Lopez
  • Eddie Murphy
  • Dave Chapelle
  • George Carlin

Of course that’s just a small fraction of the high-quality comedians who have performed at the Laugh Factory over the years.

History

The Laugh Factory opened its original location on Sunset Boulevard in 1979, and has now expanded its brand to multiple locations including clubs in Chicago, Las Vegas and Long Beach.

The original Laugh Factory has an interesting beginning. Jamie Masada, the club’s founder, immigrated to southern California at the age of 14. He had a passion for comedy and supported himself with various side jobs while performing stand-up comedy at local clubs in L.A. At the age of 16, with a $10,000 loan, Masada took his passion to the next level and opened theLaugh Factory comedy club.

Today, Masada still has a passion for his work and is constantly on the look out for upcoming talent. He is also a notable philanthropist.

Regular Features

Besides featuring big name comedians, The club features regular weekly shows such as All-Star Comedy, a group of currently hot comedians, Midnight Madness, a Friday midnight show, Open Mic Night, just what it sounds like, as well as Latino Night, an exclusive Latino comic lineup.

World Famous

Beside the impressive #1 ranking, some other praise for the Laugh Factory comes from Los Angeles Magazine, which says “Many clubs claim to be world famous, but Laugh Factory actually earned the title.” Business Week also has good remarks for the clubs stating that the  Laugh Factory “changed the comedy industry.” This is certainly high praise in such a competitive industry.

If you’re in L.A. and enjoy stand-up comedy, don’t miss out on the opportunity to go the world famous Laugh Factory. Even if you’re not a huge stand-up comedy fan, it’s still worth checking out such a historic venue!
