52nd Annual Monterey Scottish Games & Celtic Festival

What’s the best way to experience all six Celtic nations without ever stepping foot on a plane? Answer: The 52nd Annual Monterey Scottish Games & Celtic Festival! On Aug 3 and Aug 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Monterey County Fair & Event Center will be packed with Celtic music, dance, food and activities. Expect massive pipe bands, Irish dancers, whiskey tastings, sheepdog herding and more. For the full festival schedule of events, click here. Admission to the festival is $15/ day for adults, $12/ day for kids 9-12 and free for kids 8 years and younger.

Sand City West End Celebration

If the arts interest you, mark your calendar for the 18th Annual Sand City West End Celebration on Aug 24 (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.) and Aug 25 (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Held on the streets of Sand City, California, this event attracts more than 100 artists and artisans. Expect visual arts, interactive arts, art exhibits and continuous live music on multiple stages. Monterey County Fair

The Monterey County Fair returns to the fairgrounds this year Aug 29 through Sep 2! Like many fairs, you can expect to find a wide range of food vendors, carnival rides, livestock, exhibits and entertainment. Thus far, this year’s entertainment acts include country singer Mitchell Tenpenny, a Journey tribute band, Garth Brooks tribute and Carrie Underwood tribute. Throughout the fairgrounds, you’ll also find a hypnotist, comedians and violinists. For updates on this year’s concerts and entertainment, check the Monterey Fair website. And if this will be your first time navigating the Monterey County Fair, make sure to take a look at their digital fairgrounds map. Ticket prices range from $5 to $35, depending on the package you choose. For all ticket details, click here.
