3 Upcoming Holiday Events in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is gearing up for a holiday season filled with fun and festivities! If you’re visiting the coastal city this December, make sure to make time for the Santa Barbara Holiday Parade, Santa Barbara Zoo or the Holiday Parade of Lights. More details below.

67th Annual Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade

Downtown Santa Barbara officially kicks off the holiday season each year with the city’s only nighttime parade: The Santa Barbara Holiday Parade. This year, the highly anticipated parade will step off on Dec 6 at 6:30 p.m. and head down State Street. As always, you can expect to see giant balloons, community floats, marching bands, the Holiday Prince and Fairy and Santa Claus. To emulate Santa Barbara’s laid back atmosphere, this year’s theme is “A Tropical Holiday.” So, make sure to don your best Hawaiian shirt and grass skirt for the festivities.

Snow Leopard Festival and Sledding at the Zoo

On Dec 8 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., kids have the chance to sled and celebrate the endangered snow leopard during the Santa Barbara Zoo’s Snow Leopard Festival. Throughout the event, both kids and the animals will enjoy over 50 tons of snow, available to sled and play in. There will also be photo opportunities with Santa and bounce houses for the kids. Unlimited sled passes are just $5 and can be purchased at the event.

33rd Annual Holiday Parade of Lights at the Harbor

The 33rd Annual Holiday Parade of Lights will take over the Santa Barbara harbor on Dec 8. Starting at 3 p.m., visit the City Pier-turned Santa’s Village for all sorts of free family-friendly activities, ten tons of snow and photos with Santa. The first 300 kids to arrive will also receive a free goody bag, so try to make it to the pier early! At 5:30 p.m., the parade begins with more than 30 boats decked in holiday lights and décor sailing down the Santa Barbara coastline. A 5-minute fireworks display will follow the parade to end the night.
