Celebrate Independence Day in Chicago

As stores stock their shelves with s’mores fixings and plenty of red, white and blue, you know that it’s time to plan your Independence Day festivities! This year, celebrate in Chicago. Watch fireworks at Navy Pier, listen to classics at Grant Park and enjoy local eats this 4th of July.

Fireworks at Navy Pier

What’s Independence Day without a fireworks show? Chicago’s skies will light up with many different fireworks displays on the fourth, but the best will take place at Navy Pier. On July 4th, the fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Visitors can view the show from the Navy Pier dock or from one of the many fireworks cruises. If you’re heading to Chicago the weekend after the fourth, you can still see fireworks at the Pier on Saturday, July 7 starting at 10:15 p.m. Looking for a hotel near Navy Pier? Stay at the Majestic Hotel, a charming boutique property close to the show.

Grant Park Independence Day Salute

Before the fireworks start, enjoy the Grant Park Independence Day Salute– one of Chicago’s many patriotic traditions. From 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. the Grant Park Orchestra will perform a variety of patriotic tunes, including classics like John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever. Along with the concert, 16-year-old pianist Emily Bear will also perform Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, conducted by Christopher Bell. The event will take place at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and tickets can be purchased online. As you look for a hotel near the Grant Park Independence Day Salute, consider staying at the City Suites Hotel.

Local Food and Drink Specials

As you explore Chicago on the fourth, keep an eye out for local food and drink specials! A corner tavern called Lotties annually features great deals in July, including discounted Chicago hot dogs and $4 Fireball. If you choose to stay at Chicago’s Willows Hotel (which we think you should), then make sure to stop at Stan’s Donuts and Coffee! Within walking distance of the Willows, their signature donuts make for the perfect sweet treat.

Make the most of your Independence Day and take advantage of Chicago’s festivities! With fireworks and patriotic music, Chicago is ready to celebrate. And if you’re looking for a great boutique hotel in Chicago, we recommend you stay at either the Majestic, City Suites Hotel or Willows!
