Enjoy Chicago's Summer Festivals!
Chicago is a great summertime city, with plenty to do. One of the best ways to get the most out of a summer trip to the windy city is to experience one of the many summer festivals the city has to offer. The following four festivals are great options!
When: June 6th 7th and 8th
Where: Intersection of Lincoln Avenue Irving Park Road and Damen Avenue
Admission: Suggested Donation of $5 or $99 VIP pass
Ribfest is exactly what it sounds like, an entire celebration dedicated to Ribs. On Friday, June 6th, the festival will be open 5-10pm but on Saturday and Sunday it’s a full day event taking place from noon until 10pm. 16 rib vendors will be offering 3-bone samples so you can try them all without filling up too quickly.
It sounds like sacrilege at Ribfest, but if you get tired of ribs some other local restaurants will be offering plenty of additional summer and festival foods not to mention a great selection of beverages. Major League Eating will even make a Ribfest appearance for Ribmania V a competition to see which competitive eater can put down the most pork!
When: June 28th -29th
Where: Lincoln Park
Admission: Suggested $5 donation
Last year Summerfest was on hiatus but it’s back and better than ever this year. One of the biggest attractions of the show is over 20 hours of live music. But the artisan booths, food and drink options and local attractions like the Lincoln Park Zoo really make this a summer festival to remember.
When: June 6th 7th 8th
Where: Andersonville Chicago, Clark Street from Foster to Catalpa,
Admission: $10 suggested donation
Midsommarfest is a street festival in its 49th year. This celebration of summer includes music, kids entertainment and plenty of refreshments. A great variety of local bands will be featured and the festival is still accepting band entrants. If you’re not familiar with the area, Andersonville is a Chicago neighborhood located northwest of Lincoln square and adjacent to Rosehill cemetery.
Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival
When: June 7-8
Where: N. Sheffield from Belmont to Roscoe
Admission: $5 suggested donation
The Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival is another long running Chicago event, now in its 30th year! Proceeds will benefit the Central Lakeview Merchants Association.
Like most summer festivals refreshments including local food and drink vendors will be available, but what makes the Belmont-Sheffield stand out is that its artists are all tribute bands! So if you’d like to hear some of your favorite well- known songs from bands such as Led Zeppelin, Dave Matthews or other pop music stars your in luck!
