Dia de los Muertos in Hollywood Forever Cemetery
The 20th annual Dia de los Muertos celebration returns to Hollywood Forever Cemetery next Saturday, Nov 2! From 12 p.m. – 12 a.m. visitors can enjoy a wide variety of food and drink vendors, as well as entertainment and activities like festive face painting. This year’s theme is the Monarch butterfly and its journey home to the Mexican state of Michoacan. General admission tickets are sold for four-hour increments, at $25 per person. More About Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Founded in 1899, the Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the final resting place for hundreds of Hollywood’s greatest stars. The cemetery is also one of the oldest in California and listed on the official National Register of Historic Places. Throughout the cemetery’s 50+ acres, you’ll find notable names like Jerry Siegel (creator of Superman), Mel Blanc (voice of Daffy Duck) and Judy Garland (Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz). Several local companies offer daytime guided tours of the cemetery, providing an overview of the cemetery and its most famous residents.
While in Studio City, skip the usual holiday lights and instead opt for a visit to the Los Angeles Arboretum for their Magical Lantern Art Festival. Now through Jan 6, the Arboretum is filled with shimmering lantern art, depicting everything from flowers to dragons. In addition to the various displays, guests also have the chance to watch live acrobats, dancers and other performers on-site. This exhibit is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. Ticket prices start at $20 and include free parking.
Pershing Square Ice Rink
The Bai Holiday Ice Rink Pershing Square returns for the winter season this Nov 14 and will stay open until Jan 20. This popular outdoor rink is open daily and situated right in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Take a trip to the rink to skate or check their calendar for special events happening on select days!
