How to Ring in the New Year in Los Angeles
For a great New Year’s Eve and first day of 2015 you can’t go wrong with the official Hollywood New Year’s Eve Block Party followed by the Tournament of Roses on January 1st. The two events combine perfectly for a memorable celebration of 2015.
New Year’s Eve
Official Hollywood NYE Block Party
Hollywood’s official block party for New Year’s Eve will be hosted across three different venues but will remain unified as a singular New Year’s extravaganza. One of the events major attractions is a premium open bar from 9pm until 2am.
Tickets range from $59 for basic general admission which includes open bar and food until midnight and goes all the way up to a deluxe “Rockstar” package for $2500. There will be live DJ performances featuring genres from house music to pop to hip-hop and even mash ups. Must be 21 or older to attend and the dress code is “Dress to impress / New Year’s Eve Festive.”
Food options include hors d’oeuvres, a mini buffet and finger foods like chicken wings and mozzarella sticks from Las Palmas, L’Scorpian, Premiere Supper club and the Rusty Mullet.
The party will get started at 9pm at Ivar & Hollywood Boulevard. Venues include the ATTIC, Rose Room and Hemingway’s. Don’t get too crazy at the though, you’ll want to have plenty of energy for the Tournament of Roses Festivities in Pasadena on January 1st!
New Year’s Day
On New Year’s Day, head up to Pasadena for the 126th Rose Bowl Parade and all the other great Tournament of Roses events. For over a century this fun-filled tradition has been the perfect way to ring in the new year in southern California.

This year’s parade theme is “Inspiring Stories” and it should offer some creative and memorable participants. Over its 5 and ½ mile route the parade will feature horseback riding, marching bands and of course floral covered floats. Grandstand seating is available for reservation and curbside seating is available on a first come first serve basis.

The Rose Bowl Football game presented by Northwestern Mutual
This year “The Grandaddy of Them All” holds special significance for the first time it will represent a semifinal matchup between two top teams as selected by the NCAA’s playoff selection committee with the winner moving on to the National Championship. Kickoff is at 1:30pm.
