March Happenings in Chicago

March Happenings in Chicago

March is one of the most exciting months for events in Chicago. In homage to its deep Irish roots, Chicago hosts one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations starting Mar 16. In addition to the ShamROCK Chicago celebration, the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo invites all fans of comic, entertainment and gaming industries to the Windy City Mar 22 – 24. And despite the recent cold weather, the annual Flower and Garden Show will be on Mar 20 (hopefully bringing nice spring weather with it)! Let’s dive into the details.

ShamROCK Chicago

Chicago is home to one of the greatest St. Paddy’s Day celebrations in the United States – ShamROCK Chicago. With three Irish parades, the dyeing of the Chicago River and a couple of St. Patrick’s Day races, Chicago has earned its title as the “GREENest City in the World”. This weekend celebration will kick off on Saturday, Mar 16 at 9a.m. with the dyeing of the Chicago River. The best view of the river GREENing is at the intersection of Michigan Ave, Wacker Drive and the river. After checking out the lucky river, watch Chicago’s classic Downtown parade as it marches north on Columbus Drive from Balbo to Monroe. If you’re feeling the luck of the Irish, then sign up for one of the many marathons and half marathon races also happening this March. The Get Lucky Half Marathon, St. Paddy’s Day 5K & 8K and the Shamrock Shuffle will all take place in March. Experience an authentic St. Patrick’s Day this year at ShamROCK Chicago.
