Big Sur Food and Wine Festival

Foodies and wineos, you’ll want to be in Monterey Nov 1-Nov 4. Why? The annual Big Sur Food and Wine Festival is back! This extended weekend event spreads across multiple locations in Big Sur and showcases fantastic wines from dozens of local wineries. Each day is packed with exclusive wine tastings, handcrafted food and carefully curated events.

The festival kicks off on Thursday at 6 p.m. with a large variety of food and wine samples, “under the stars.” Tickets for Thursday’s opening night are $175 and can be purchased here. Friday is full of wine-loving fun with a panel tasting and wine hike both at 10 a.m., pinot tasting at 12 p.m. and formal dinner at 6 p.m. More details and tickets for each event can be found here. Saturday includes an auction in the morning and Wine & Swine party in the evening. And Sunday wraps up this eventful festival with a brunch in the morning (champagne included) and artisan market in the afternoon. 20th Annual Monterey Cowboy Festival

If elegant bites of food and sips of wine is just a little too fancy for you, maybe the 20th Annual Monterey Cowboy Festival is more your style. On Saturday, Nov 3, expect all things country to make their way to the Monterey County Fairgrounds. From 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., catch performances from popular country musicians, across two stages. Notable names on the lineup include Jon Pardi and Midland. Along with live entertainment, food by local restaurants, craft beer by California breweries and merch from The Marketplace will also be available. Monterey Bay Races

For those of you that are avid runners (or supporters of avid runners), sign up for this year’s Pacific Grove Lighthouse 5K on Nov 10 or the Monterey Bay Half Marathon on Nov 11! The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. at Lovers Point Park in Pacific Grove. And the route is a quick one, guiding runners out and back along the picturesque Monterey Bay. Anyone 5 years of age or older can register to walk or run the 5K for $20-$30. The Half Marathon kicks off the next day at 6:50 a.m. on Del Monte Avenue. The course begins and ends in historic downtown Monterey, providing views of Cannery Row and the Pacific Grove shoreline along the way. Anyone 9 years of age or older can register here.
