The 23rd Annual Chicago Humanities Festival
Encourage enjoyment and the exploration of the humanities.
The Chicago Humanities Festival returned for its 23rd year!
TheChicagoHumanitiesFestival’s (CHF) mission is to create opportunities for people of all ages to support, enjoy and explore the humanities. Every year they host an annual fall festival, with another in the spring; and according to Choose Chicago, CHF “brings together novelists, scholars, musicians, archaeologists, historians, poets, architects, policy makers and others – both established and emerging – to offer performances, screenings exhibits and discussions.”
And with over 100 events, surrounding around this year’s theme – America – there was something everyone could enjoy.
“The 2012 festival will explore the many meanings of America, both at home and abroad,” blogger Matti Bunzl said. “We will debate the great American novel and celebrate jazz and the American song book, shine a spotlight on our country’s visual artists and honor the American philosophical tradition. And we will look at America from abroad, tracing the history of its meanings from Columbus to Kafka and locating its place in the world today…”
The Chicago Humanities Festival is devoted to making the humanities a vital and vibrant ingredient of daily life. We believe that access to cultural, artistic and educational opportunities is a necessary element for a healthy and robust civic environment.
The Chicago Humanities Festival ran through November 11th at various locations.
